Welcome to Mrs. Edinger's Second Grade Class!

2016-2017

Dear Families,

Welcome to our classroom website! I hope that you will find the information here to be helpful. I try to communicate regularly with families via email, but this site might provide you with some resources throughout the year.

This is my 20th year in the Mahtomedi school district. For most of those years, I taught third grade at O.H. Anderson. Two years ago, I joined the Wildwood Elementary staff as a second grade teacher after serving as a teachers' coach for two years. I am very happy to be teaching second graders! My goal is to make our learning environment cheerful and safe and to provide a place where all children can feel the satisfaction of learning and growing together as a classroom community.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in vocal music in 1980 from Hamline University, and my Master's Degree in Education from Hamline, and have taken many additional classes focusing on Responsive Classroom strategies, differentiation, literacy instruction, and the teaching of gifted and talented students. I believe strongly in continuing to learn and grow as an educator, and the children teach me new things every year! Every new class offers opportunities for growth!

I am anxious to learn more about you and your child this year, and hope that we will have many opportunities to build a relationship that is built on trust and that focuses on the most important person at the forefront of our decisions--your second grade son or daughter!

Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns. In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing support of your child's education. I am looking forward to a joyful year of learning together!

Sincerely,
Helen Edinger
