Procedural Safeguards/Parent Rights
The Procedural Safeguards and Parental Rights document is intended to provide general information and guidance regarding special education rights and procedural safeguards afforded to parents of children age 3 through 21 under state and federal law. This document was created by the Minnesota Department of Education, and it explains a selection of some of the rights and procedural safeguards provided to parents under the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 300, and applicable Minnesota laws and regulations; it is not a complete list or explanation of those rights.
