Call Numbers & descriptions:

• E = “everybody” books - traditional picture story books; large and square but with few pages such as “Llama Llama Red Pajama,” “Pete the Cat,” or “Goodnight Moon”

• BR = Beginning Readers - has the traditional rectangular shape of a chapter book but still far fewer pages and small amounts of text per page; such as “Elephant & Piggie” books, very easy vocabulary.

• BC = Beginning Chapter books - these books are longer and have more words per page than BR books, but they are easier & shorter than a chapter book; these books are illustrated and provide a good transition from BR and E books to the more challenging Fiction chapter books; examples are “Amelia Bedelia,” “Fly Guy,” and “Who Would Win?”

• Fic = Fiction - these are traditional chapter books, often not illustrated, longer and more complicated text than beginning chapter books; examples: “Magic Tree House,” “Dog Man” and “A to Z Mysteries”

• # (number) call numbers = Dewey Decimal - non-fiction books, factual books, animals, science, history, fairy tales, poetry etc… various levels of difficulty, often includes illustrations + text
